Hazelwood Allied Moving and Storage helped to tackle child hunger this summer by donating $1,000 to The Santa Barbara Foodbank. This donation went towards feeding nearly 38,000 children healthy meals at free picnics across the county.
In a letter to Hazelwood Erin Talkin, Chief Executive of the Foodbank of Santa Barbara, said: “I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to you for your generous support of the Foodbank this year. The $1,000 contribution from Hazelwood Moving and Storage during our End Summer Hunger campaign galvanized our work to transform the health of individuals in Santa Barbara County.”
The End Summer Hunger campaign was set up to make sure children are fed over the summer break, when they don’t have access to free or subsidized school meal assistance. Hazelwood’s donation helped the Foodbank’s volunteers serve over 38,000 free healthy lunches to children this summer during their Picnic in the Park outreach program. That’s over 6,000 more free meals than last year.

Each year, 1 in 4 local people in Santa Barbara receive support from the Foodbank and 35 percent of those are children.
Hazelwood will continue to support The Santa Barbara Foodbank as they begin their fall school programs; the Kids’ Famers Market, Teens Love Cooking and Food Literacy in Preschool. You can find out more about the cause and how you can help on the Santa Barbara Foodbank website.
