Here are some helpful tips for packing your patio furniture and grill.
If you are planning on moving houses, don’t forget to pack the stuff outside. The main items that you will pack are patio furniture and your grill. Prepping and packing these things is similar to how you would pack the chairs, tables, and lounges you have in the house. Grills are easy to pack as well, and we will go over how to get them ready for the move.
Clean the patio furniture and grill
Before packing, deep clean the furniture and grill. If you don’t clean them, they can get other items on the truck dirty. You will need to get a cleaner specifically for the type of metal frame and fabric on your patio furniture. Spray the cleaner on the legs, arms, and flat surfaces and wipe them down. Don’t forget to get in the nooks and crannies of each piece of furniture.
When cleaning the grill, use a cleaner that won’t damage the finish. If you have a stainless-steel grill, you can use a cleaner that is normally for appliances. Clean the grates by using a nylon grill brush that will clean any food left from your last barbecue. Clean the inside of the grill, thoroughly removing soot and ashes from the inside. For charcoal grills, empty the ash catcher and clean it.
Pack your furniture and grill
After you have cleaned the furniture, you can start packing. Start by getting all your packing materials together, like tape, boxes, moving blankets, and bubble wrap. Next, start taking apart any chairs, tables, and umbrellas that can be easily disassembled. Place the hardware in a zip-top bag, then tape it to the frame. Protect each of the pieces by wrapping them in bubble wrap. Place all the pieces in the box securely using packing peanuts to fill the gaps.
Wrap furniture that can’t be disassembled in a moving blanket. Cover all sides with the blanket. Securely wrap around the blanket and frame of the furniture. Each leg of a chair or table will need to be covered and taped to prevent damage.
Moving Tip: Purchase a protective cover for the umbrella canopy.
Disassemble the grill if you can. Place grates, trays, and small parts in the body or the grill. Pack all the parts in a box and use packing materials to fill in empty space. Wrap grills that can’t be taken apart in either bubble wrap or a moving blanket. Note that movers will not move propane tanks; if you have a propane grill, you will need to transport the tanks yourself.
Safety Tip: For gas grills, remove the propane tank before the grill is placed on the truck.
Packing the pillows, and cushions
Remove the pillows and cushions from your chairs or lounges. Before packing, pillows and cushions make sure that they are dry to prevent them from getting moldy. Wrap them in a plastic sheet to prevent any damage. We are here to help you with all your moving needs.
