Storage Options

Most full-service movers, such as Hazelwood Allied, have both types of storage within their facility.  However, most Santa Barbara movers only provide vault storage.  How should you determine what type of storage in Santa Barbara appropriate for your move?  Below is a comparison of the two types of storage:

Vault Storage

Hazelwood Allied recommends vault storage (very similar to PODS) for items that you will not need to access while they are in storage.  Each piece of furniture is blanket wrapped, which provides a high level of protection.  Vault dimensions are typically 6 x 7 x 8, and approximately 1000 lbs can fit in each vault (figure most residents have about 1000 in each room of their house.)  Warehouse access is available with several days notice, and Hazelwood Allied can provide a detailed inventory if the customer so desires.

Self-Storage

Self-storage makes sense if items need to be accessed while in storage.  The client can typically do this whenever they choose.  Units come in all different sizes and price ranges.

Bottom Line:  Prices are comparable for each type of storage.  Vault storage provides much better furniture protection, but self-storage allows for greater accessibility.  A rule of thumb is that if the client feels comfortable storing furniture items in their garage, then these items should go into self-storage.  If they feel uncomfortable, vault storage is the way to go.
